Amazement in Ames

Updated: May 5

Written By Carlee Garrity.

After a long season of contests, our members' hard work finally paid off. On Sunday, April

19th, the Central DeWitt FFA chapter left for Ames, ready to compete. That night, the

group also took time to give to those in need and packaged meal packets at Iowa State

University. The next day, Adam Wilke (competed in ag broadcasting), Taylor Houser

(competed in prepared public speaking), Carlee Garrity (competed in chapter website),

and Kamryn Keester (competed in individual ag sales). Taylor and Kamryn got a silver

ranking, while Adam placed 2nd and Carlee placed 3rd! Caden Bernaur also got recognized

for his work in his SAE with a proficiency in ag education! Congrats to all those who

competed! To wrap up the day, the chapter took the kids to the Fun Night offered by the

Iowa FFA Organization. On Tuesday, Sam Hootman and Austin Nolin took the Discovery quiz, Katie Grantz and Ashton Leibold took Greenhand tests, and Emily Sutton and Dalani Beuthien took the Chapter test. Carlee Garrity and Avery Heilig received their Iowa degrees as well! Some other students that attended convention did things such as; Ty Henningsen and Lucas Burken were delegates, Emily Sutton and Dalaini Beuthein created a chapter exhibit, Taylor Houser represented our chapter with the flag, Molly Burken participated in the talent show, Adam Wilke and Molly Burken participated in state chior, Ruth Whitman served time as courtesy corps, and Owen Garrity, Sam Hootman, and Austin Nolin attended the middle school workshop. Overall, convention was successful. Congratulations and great job to those who competed!
