On Saturday, April 25th, over 100 members, parents, and guests congregated into the high
school auditorium to see the Central DeWitt FFA chapter’s members be recognized for their
hard work throughout the year. Chapter officers kicked off the awards by highlighting ways the chapter has demonstrated growth throughout the previous year. Following this was the degree ceremony, a perfect example of members who have grown throughout the year. Degrees recognize members as they become more involved in FFA. The chapter recognized 8th graders who received their Discovery degree all the way up to graduated members who received their American degree, the highest honor an FFA member can receive.
The chapter also took the time to recognize many of its supporters. The chapter awarded Smilee’s with the partnership award, which recognizes businesses that have supported the chapter for many years. Smilee’s has helped donate awards and prizes to the chapter
throughout the past few years. The chapter also recognized Nate Sutton with the Blue and
Gold award, which recognizes groups and individuals that have gone above and beyond in
their help with the chapter throughout the year. Nate has been a chaperone on many FFA
trips and events, as well as helping out with the chapter’s Give Back Kick Back event.
Before electing new chapter officers, the chapter awarded members with superlative awards.
Voted on by the members, these awards include titles such as “Most likely to live in DeWitt
forever,” “Most likely to have their entire day planned down to the minute,” and “Most likely
to win a reality TV show.” Following this, the chapter elected the new officer team. The
chapter banquet was a great way to cap off the year, and the Central DeWitt FFA can’t wait
for next year!
