Fri-Yay! A Sweet Ending to FFA Week

Written By Taylor Houser.

On Friday, February 27th, middle and high school students were invited to wear blue to show their support for the Central DeWitt FFA Chapter! Ag Leadership hosted an assembly for the middle school, where they put on an educational skit and played fun and engaging games for prizes! Towards the end, the students were asked to sit down on the bleachers. Secretary Carlee Garrity listed off different categories of agriculture, and asked the students to stand and remain standing if any of these things pertained to them. This included living on a farm, showing livestock, performing community service, or just eating something that day. The activity showed middle schoolers how whether they realize it or not, everyone is involved in agriculture in some way, whether as a producer or a consumer. The leadership class continued, sharing how vital agriculture truly is to our nation. At the conclusion of the assembly, all students received an FFA themed fun-dip! Carlee Garrity says “The Ag Lead team put a lot of time into planning an assembly that will hopefully bring in some younger members in the future, and they had a lot of fun doing it!”.
